Salvador Dali - The Maximum Speed of Raphael's Madonna, 1954.
This painting demonstrates shape in the circles spinning from Madonna's face and creating movement within the composition. Swirling lines also add to this element of motion. The space between the shapes and the dominance of the abstracted face create the dynamic form of this painting. Dali took an iconic image and turned it into an interesting abstraction that takes on a whole new meaning.
Debris of an Automobile Giving Birth to a Blind Horse Biting a Telephone” from 1938
The form of this composition is very complicated and brings many details to attention. Use of light and shadow are emphasized in this work and the shape of the horse and of the wheel is very striking. The lines are fine and detailed, almost like a sketch.
